Virtual currency without getting robbed
Cryptocurrency is money, so it needs to be protected like money — with the complication that a mistaken or fraudulent transfer usually cannot be reversed. There is no chargeback and no fraud department.
That single property is why almost every scam eventually asks to be paid this way.
Do this today
- Turn on MFA for every exchange or wallet platform you use, using an app or hardware key rather than text messages.
- Treat a recovery phrase like a bearer bond. Written down, stored physically, never photographed and never typed into a website.
- Slow down on any transfer you did not initiate yourself. Anyone pressing you to send quickly is the reason the transaction cannot be undone.
What good looks like
You know exactly which platforms hold something of yours, and each of them requires a second factor.
Nobody but you has ever seen your recovery phrase, including any support agent who asked for it. Support never needs it.
